Some Things That Have Happened Recently

Now that Surrogate finally got drunk on stage enough times to earn a spot in the pantheon of legendary Chico bar bands whose instruments line the walls of LaSalles, I can finally concentrate on doing the important shit like not flunking out of law school and trying to sell you clothes. To that end, I took the relatively meaningless step of applying for, taking the exam for and jumping through the litany of hoops necessary to become a Notary Public for the State of CA. Many months, and dollars later, today I received my official commision from the Secretary of State. This is what it looked like.

If you’re wondering who Anthony Lujan is, you’re in good company, because I have absolutely no idea who he is. Whoever he is, I now have his official notarial commission certificate, not to mention all the documents he needs to get stamped and bonded. I assume that he has mine, but who knows? So that’s fun. And while we’re on the subject of things that take effort but won’t actually ever be of any use, did I mention I’m also taking cello lessons? I figured that since I wasn’t quite broke enough or busy enough already, why not rent a cello and pay someone to try to teach me how to play despite having no foreseeable application for the “skill” of playing cello nor the will or opportunity to practice at home basically ever? So that’s fun too. So far I’ve had like 5 lessons and I still don’t even know how to hold the damn bow. My teacher is a tiny Japanese lady who I’m pretty sure secretly despise me and/or doubts that I will ever actually be able to play cello. I also secretly despise me and/or doubt that I will ever actually be able to play cello, so I guess it’s understandable.

I guess it doesn’t matter anyway since the world is gonna end of May 21st. No really, it is. THE BIBLE GUARANTEES IT! And what better way to celebrate Judgment Day than to play a show with a band called Judgement Day, not to mention a band called La Fin Du Monde which is latin French for The End of the World? I mean, I could think of a few better ways to celebrate Judgement Day, but this isn’t too shabby. Surrogate/Judgement Day/La Fin Du Monde at the Blue Room Theater in Chico, CA. May 21st. Be there or be in heaven looking down at atheist sinner gay loving infidels suffering through God’s fiery wrath and tribulation for ALL ETERNITY IN HELL.
